I have a 1989 H27. The sails are labeled 265. It's my understanding that in 1990 Hunter went to water-ballast from the bulbed nose wing keel that my boat has. It seems that several different styles were developed during this period for 26 to 27 feet. My boat has 6'1" head room, with a walk around deck, outboard moter, with tiller. The boat is very fast and comfortable. I wonder why I never see any like it for sale? If I could find an affordable trailer I think I should keep this boat always. Does anyone know why this boat was developed then disgarded. Joe D

Joe, How does your cabin layout compare to

a H26 water ballast vs. the solid ballast/keel boats of the next size up and down during this same time frame? Ray S/V Speedy 95 H26

I'm not familar with H26 water ballast cabin layout. My boat has an enclosed head (porti-poty, sink) to port of companion way, then fuse station over a wet locker, settees around thee sides of a half folding table. The v-birth's head rest is the back of the center settee pulled out. You must crawl in over settee. there are two large compartments under v-berth(over two feet deep), however it is cumbersome to remove the large cushions to gain access. starboard of commpaionway is the gally with (hand pump) sink, icebox two burner alcohol stove and access to rear berth behind steps. the aft berth is laid out for head-starboard sleeping. with a single sealed lexan window below the rub rail. The cock pit is laid out for an optional wheel so there is a large storage area under both rear seats. if anyone has a boat like this I have some questions about rigging and hull trim. Joe d
