Great Lakes anyone?

Just curious, anyone out there on the Great Lakes? Lake Michigan to be more specific? Southwest Lake Michigan, southeastern Wisconin to be even MORE specific?I'd like to hear where everyone goes sailing in the area. I'm working on the boat right now, upgrading and redoing a good deal. As usual, I'll end up overbuilding it. I plan on sailing around the Great Lakes though, and visiting many places. Eventually, I might even take it out to the coast, but thats a few years down the line. The thought so far is I'll just take off two weeks and see how far I get.Josh

Hi Josh,I bought a 1985 O'Day 222 last year, and have sailed mainly on inland lakes (mainly Pewaukee). However, we did get it down to McKinley for a few days (around the July 4th weekend) so that we could do a little sailing and also take in the fireworks. Our plans are to do quite a bit more on Lake Michigan in the next few years (e.g., Port Washington runs, trailer to Door County, etc.).I would love to compare notes at some point. I haven't made many modifications to the boat as of yet, although I did reconfigure my trailer (sandblasted, painted, removed rollers and replaced with bunks). Please e-mail me at dclark@c3stats.com. Lake Michigan

My 79 O22 was on Lake Michigan for 17 years with the original owner and it hasnt been back since with me...yet.I've been reconditioning it for several years and sailing it on lake Carlyle.I had a trip planned though last year to sail from Kenosha or Racine to Milwalkee (sp?sorry) and back to Chicago but it got canceled. It was hard to find good information about marinas and boat ramps as we were trailering it up there and back. I searched the web and bought some traveling maps but a nautical chart would be a good idea if you could get your hands on one.(Pricy)So if you see me up there sometime point me in a good direction if you figured it out by then.Scott
