GPSMAP 76
I'll make an assumption you want a handheld, and thats all I can talk about. I got a Garmin GPSMAP 76 a couple months ago, mostly based on a review in Practical Sailor and the fact that i have had a GPS 45XL for years. I'm very happy with it, but even with some GPS experience, it takes a little while to really start using the features. Prac. Sailor recommends a black and white (well grey)screen because of its better visiblity in sunlight. It (the 76) uses batteries a little more than the color models, but lots less than older generations. Just saying "well try out a couple at the store" would be poor advice, you can't really tell what you like and don't until you live with it on a trip. Sort of like a wife. *X Garmin has a pretty good page that lists the features vs. model, why don't you try to narrow it down to one or two, and then compare the Garmin vs Magellan off of that? Or you can try this link. Glisson is a California company that sells aftermarket GPS antennas among other things, so YMMV.
