Hi folks.

While my boat is out of the water I am considering installing my GPS and sonar transducer. Has anyone tackled this job? It is alot of wiring and so on, I have never done a job this complicated with electronics, most I have done is car stereo installs.

Is this a job someone with car staereo install experience should tackle?

Thanks,

Pete

Yes, if you can do that, you can do this.

What it requires are just a few things beyond the right tools.

Planning and a wiring diagram.

Get yourself set up, read the manuals, read 'em again, jot down questions you have and plan the wire routing. If you have any questions about the instructions, I've found that they get answered pretty quickly once I get started: "Oh, so that's what they mean by that!" kinda things.

And by doing it yourself, you'll know so much more about the boat, the system and you'll feel really good about yourself.

What a deal!

This isn't a bad install at all, especially if you aren't going to run the wires through the pedistal. It also depends on what type of transducer you are putting in.

Stu is exactly right in his post. You may also look into where you want to mount these items and figure out what is the best way to do this.
