I'm in a quandry about what to do next. I've looked a little at prefab poly deisel tanks but not even the smallest Tempo tank (from West Marine catalog) will fit the opening I've got. Do I get our existing aluminum tank repaired? Anyone know of another manufacturer who has small poly tanks? Any other advice on this will be greatly appreciated. We're in uncharted waters now!

Fix it

Tom, If you have a good welding shop in the area, they could fix yours. Another posibility is they could fabricate you a new "copy" of your old tank. Will proubably be more expensive, but worth looking into. I've meet some welders who work cheap. Pat McCartin

Cross linked poly for diesel.

Tom: If you look around you should be able to find some mfg of cross linked poly tanks made for diesel. I do not think I would mess around with another alum. tank. But if you consider it has lasted for 20+ years, I guess that is not too bad.

Getting a new tank made.

Our co-owners went to a recommended metal shop up at Port Canaveral and got a good price on a new tank. We're having it powder coated and plan to place it on some sort of plastic material instead of directly on the wood platform below the cockpit. Thanks for the advice!

NEW TANK

Make sure the tank is pressure tested and properly labeled as a fuel tank or a survey could be a real problem. There is a great tank builder in tampa call madison or maddison tanks. He specialises in tanks with the right baffels and fittings. Its worth the moneyto do it right.
