Hey Agaliha and all, I finally put the last piece of the whisker pole attachments to my mast and all its missing now is the pole which I'm putting on tomorrow. I got 12 feet of track and after 40 holes, drilling and tapping I finally finished it. Now I wish I had got the bosun chair with laminate plate and not the compact version :(

Agaliha , your tips very invaluable and along with the arrangement for the traveler, which works GREAT, I might place closer to second last or maybe even beat a boat or two :) Racing still is just for fun but these improvements were cheap and effective.

thanks again !

Lots of progress

Gaute,
Thanks for the message. Glad to be of help. Yes, that traveler improvement makes sailing so much easier. The only thing I have added lately is a small chartplotter on the binnicle. I got a RayMarine 435 and it just fits with my other instruments. What PHRF rating does your club give you?

Second windlass switch

Gaute,
I forgot one other improvement I did this winter. I installed a second windlass control switch on the binnacle. Now I don't have to go forward and yell at the admiral when I want to launch or retrieve the anchor. It works great.

windlass install

Having a remote windlass by helm sounds like a great improvement, what goes into that ? just hooking up to the same controls as the front and sending a wire thru the boat ? Are there any wireless ones ? I had to install a new remote upfront with new connectors so I'm familiar with how it works.

I have a 186 rating when I sail in both the flying sails and cruising class (no spinnakers). not sure why its the same but this rating won't change as long as the pole was less than a certain foot, I'm the only boat racing here without the pole so I got pole rating :)

I was testing the pole on water yesterday and the baby stay is definately in my way so I'll have to adress it... jibing it on the inside with the second hatch 5 inches from the bottom of a 40 pound pole makes me uncomfortable. I already put a clip at the end of the baby stay so it can be released but eventually I'll need blocks and line there to tighten it....

thanks again !

second windlass switch

Yes, I mounted a three position switch in next to the binnacle light switch. It is on - off - on. I ran a three conductor wire the length of the boat to the winch relay. I left the old control in place so that I can use either. I don't know of a wireless solution but I prefer wires anyway. They are more dependable.
Thanks for the rating info.
I actually like my babystay because it protects my spinnaker pole from the tacking genoa when I have it stored vertically on the mast.
