Hello All: The ace mechanic at the marina advised that I replace the flax material in the packing nut with a Gore-Tex product. Does anyone have experience with the Gore-Tex and what should I know about it? Thanks, Melody s/v Spice of Life
I have used it twice, First time, for 3 seasons. Just replaced this year for second time. I probably could have used orginal for awile longer. Had no problems with it.Its supposed to be self lubricating. Adjust it, similar to flax packing. Slight drip to no drip. What ever your preference. About $ 15.00 a foot.
