Is there a good wireless internet service for cruising the southern half of the east coast and beyond?

Out here on the left coast I use a wireless CDPD aircard modem on a laptop computer on my boat. It is based on cellular technology so it dies about 10 miles offshore when it gets out of range of the nearest cellular antenna. Another major drawback of wireless is the slow speed. I am only getting 19.2 kbps. Painfully slow, but it works. For more information search on the following words: Spider, Merlin, or Aircard.
