Good stuff

Just so you don't think I'm spending all my time fussing over Gala...

I spent the night at anchor on Friday night and had a lovely time
with my mate Brenda. It was only her 3d time aboard a sailboat and
she really enjoyed it. In fact she's fast becoming a crack
helmswoman.

Saturday morning we spent the day sailing around the Hudson River and
watching the www.shattemucyc.org/ sailboat races.

My buddies from www.hudsoncove.com/ and www.chelseayacht.org/ were
all there racing like fiends. I got lots of good pictures which can
be seen at www.andyt13.com/gala.htm

I didn't have the heart to subject her to racing just yet. :)

After a lovely dinner and a night at home I went back out all day and
tried out my new 100% jib which wasa HUGE improvement over the 150% I
used Saturday.

Since I'm at the edge of the mooring field leaving and returning
under sail are a breeze (you should pardon the pun) so I don't even
need the outboard. I'm thinking a generator would be cheaper than a
new outboard.

Anyway, many little tasks done. Traced the running light wires and
got a bettery and switches to hook up tonight. I tuned and taped the
rig, repaired my ballon jib and discovered I have to raise the boom
about a foot. Since I have a wooen mast (damned thing) I have to
actually unscrew and remount it to fit my mainsail. It came from a
Pierson or so I think from the big P on the sail. My 150% jib is too
long for the forestay. Cut it down or wait until I replace the mast?
Decisions, decisions...

So there you have it. I'm not just working on her, we is sailing. :)
I decided to winter in the water since it won't freeze until late
December and should unfreeze by March, thereby extending my season
about 3 months.
Peace.
