Just a heads up on good deal on a small inexpensive inflatable dinghy and electric motor; as West Marine is running a special this month (October). If you get their 2 man inflatable for $200 they throw in a $100 electric 2-speed trolling motor for free. But you have to ask for the free motor if you order over the phone and it isn't listed on their website. It was in their October catalog (flier) but is not on the website packaged as such. See motor link listed separately. I got one and was impressed with the dinghy construction and motor (especially considering the price). I though it would be a big innertube with a cover but was pleasantly surprised to see that you get more than your money's worth. I mean where can you get a boat and a motor for $200 (plus shipping and tax which was + another $54)? The dinghy only weighs 22lbs which was important for me and folds up into a carrying bag (provided) and inflated it also fits nicely laying on the deck, made fast to the lifeline stanchions afore the mast step. You will need a portable self enclosed battery for the motor but I had one already for a variety of 12v stuff we use on the boat. Also oars and oar locks come with the boat. For those looking for an inexpensive, no hassle, seldom used dinghy you may want to look into this one. It may be a bit light for heavy use or a bit uncomfortable for those with long cold portages to shore but for the bays and protected waterways of SE Texas I found it quite accomodating especially for the price. You can save $35 on shipping if you have a West Marine or a Boat US store near you and buy it through the store. Here's the link to the motor to ask for: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=47100 Regards, JonBill

Sevylor info

When I talked to Sevylor, they were familiar with the fact that many people were using their inflatable kayaks and canoes as a minimal dinghy, so I think they just decided to come out with a mini-dinghy. Their inflatables are pretty durable, although they couldn't tell me about long-term sunlight exposure. I imagine many people use them to get out to their mooring, etc.

Fisherman

I have one that is there fisherman version. Would love to have that electric motor on it, not sure it's worth $100 to me yet. Mine has little motor mounts on it for the back. Probably drop right on. Thanks for the info.

Motor mounts

Greg, The two man mini dinghy I posted about has the motor mounts on it too. It's basically a package deal ready to go. Oars, oar locks, rings and line for towing or making fast, inflatable seats, motor mount (for electrical motor), cover for added abrasion protection, self bailing drain and plug, semi ridgid inflatable floor, carrying case, foot pump, and the electrical motor (with purchase of the dinghy) all for $200. Like I said I couldn't believe the price and was pleased with the overall construction of the product. Regards, JonBill
