I have 1985 Hunter 28.5. Any suggestions what would be a good autopilot for it and good place to buy it. Thank you all.

Raymarine Evo is good enough. Can get from any online stores.

We recently replaced our older wheel pilot with a Raymarine EV100. Very happy with it so far (however we've just had it on the boat for about 3 weeks). Defender still has them for about $230 off of list price. The reduced price shows up when you add it to your cart.

I am a huge fan of the CPT wheel pilot. Easy to install, stronger than any other wheel pilot on the market and completely silent.

I hear these things are tough as nails, but I've never understood a sailboat AP that cannot steer to wind direction. We use ours in that mode 90% of the time.
Even small oscillating shifts in the wind take your sails out of trim. If your AP is steering to compass, you have to be on deck adjusting your sails.

Bullet proof and completely silent with low power draw. As you duly noted, nothing extra. I set the course, and I am responsible for adjusting course or sail trim accordingly. There is no connection to a chart plotter or gps. For me, i like the simplicity of it, and the silence. I can see where you might miss some of the functionality of the others. If you are interested, here is of the many videos i took while using the CPT:

I have other vids on my channel with close ups of the cpt.
