Hunter 27 Grand Dunes, Myrtle Beach
Joined back in 2017 while living near Myrtle Beach and sailing a Hunter 27. Eventually moved away from the coast for a job but I'm back, now in the Tampa Bay area. I'm hoping to buy another boat and have been searching for the right one. I hope you don't mind if I pop in here and ask a couple questions. The folks here were very helpful the last time I was around.

1. A local seller has a boat that suffered some damage in the last hurricane. Says the mast was not blown over or bent, but that the screws at the base were pulled loose. I've not seen this boat, yet, as it's about 3 hours away. Before driving down to see it, I thought I ask to see if anyone has had to repair something like this. If so, what should I look for and how hard was the repair?

2. I think I know that the below picture is for a battery switch, but want to make sure.

3. Does Anyone in the Tampa/St Pete area recommends a marina for a sub-30 ft boat? I live in Largo, so I'm open to Clearwater, Tampa, St Pete, etc. Don't want to spend more than $250/month if I can avoid it. Will likely make my purchase in the next couple of weeks, so I'll need something around April 1.

Thanks for any answers.

Battery switch.

Didn't see a pic of the mast base but the loose screws do bear looking into. Did the mast fail fore and aft or side to side.? My question is "did this greatly affect the shroud attachments ?"

Unless the marina situation is a lot different than around Charlotte Harbor - Punta Gorda, Cape Coral, Ft Myers - you'll never find a dock for $250, and most likely not in 2 to 3 weeks. Docks at Burnt Store Marina start around $500 for 30 feet and under, with over a year wait.
You might get lucky and find someone with a dock behind their house. If you do, check how far it is to open water, and that there are no bridges on the way.
Good luck!

You would really need to go shopping for a transferable dock space that comes with a boat.

I wouldn't touch the boat with a mast step problem unless I got a couple of quotes from some well reviewed boat repair yards.
That looks like a battery switch, however one never knows what a previous owner has done. Go around back and follow the wires.
Cannot help with the slip.
