Hi all,

Well, we are going to try our hand at sailing again this year. We are going back to Pepin. Last year, we sailed sporadicly in Red Rock Resiviour, while the Marina staff was a pleasure to work with the Mud Dauber Wasps were not. They fowled our motor two different occasions and we had to pull the motor and take it home both times and didn't get to sail either time.

This spring I have been spending time rehabbing all the cabinetry inside of the boat as well as adding cock pit hatches to afford access to the rear end of the quarter berths from above.

I installing full length 100 lb roller drawer slides to all my new drawers, when you push them back in, they lock in place and cannot come out unless you give them a good tug. I have taken all the old ones out and have built 4 new so far. Each drawer is at least twice as long as the previous one. Plus I am installing drawers in places where here to fore, there had been none. When done, I will have almost trebled my usable drawer space and utilized quite a bit of hither too un reachable space. Should make life a little easier. I will post some pics when I get a few installed.

Our trip was a resounding success

We made the trip to Pepin in record time and with much more ease than we ever have towed in the past. I guess a combination of a big enough truck to tow the weight. Our boat and trailer weigh in around 7600 lbs. That's a pretty good load.

We had to dodge the rain drops, but the mast went us easily, It really helps to have 3 people. One to crank the winch, one to watch all the shrouds and halyards are clear, and one to make the actual connections of the fore stay. There was a lot to do after the boat was in the water. We opted to go sailing in the afternoon on our friends boat rather than spend a lot more time on the actual fussing with ours. We went out with them on Sunday as well.

What really made the week end memorable was the generous unstinting help that our friend Dave from this forum gave to us to get the boat in the water and get us to our slip.

The reason I am belaboring this is that I am so grateful.

You see, I had both hips replaced in the past 7 months, and I do not move around really easily yet. It has not really handicapped me, but it has put severe limitations on my movements on and off the boat.
