...so I get these great LED dome lights, brass colored, red and white LED's.... The problem is that the switch is a one position (on/off) switch. The lights come on red, then after switching them off they come back on white. So far, so good. The problem is that once they are white, no amount of switching on and off will bring them back to red again unless power is interrupted and you wait for a minute or two before switching back on again. Anyone else have this problem?????

I use Marine Beam which make the same type product. If you switch the light off and wait 6 seconds it will reset to red. Call go2marine perhaps.

Could be a heat issue, maybe the heat-sink has to cool off? I'm looking at white/blue for LED's and wonder if they would be the same.

A link to the specific fixture would be helpful, otherwise, we're just guessin'. I went to the Go2Marine website and there are three pages (!) of light fixtures. Which one?

I bought some aftermarket red/white led's and once white, it has to be off for 10-15 seconds to return to red.

Thanks for the info. I'll test this afternoon!

(It seems my light was d/continues by the online retailer, all they have is the single color type now...submitted question to the customer service rep...we'll see...)

braol, I have a similar light from www.marinebeam.com. That is how it is designed to work. Turns on red, short power interruption (but not too short) and it switches to white. Requires a long power interruption to reset to red, probably in the range of 20-30 seconds.

This is a classic example of over engineering.

Why can`t they have a 3 ways rocker switch; red - off - white !

I used 2 PC board led glued inside my old cabin light with a 3 way switch. Simple.

alexco, this is for lazy folks like me ! I did not have red inside the cabin.. with this led unit, I plugged it into the existing fixture without changing anything including the switch. Now I have red night lights or white in the same fixture using the same switch. easy.

Sailboat forums to the rescue again. All my lights are installed and I am happy to report that if I wait long enough, the lights do, indeed, switch back to red. It takes about 15 seconds and I am begining to wonder if the extremely cold temps increase the normal delay. Now I need to work on my impatience!
