I have a 94 Catalina 36 with a M-35 Universal. This year my glow plugs have stopped firing. I can still start but it takes about 10 seconds or more of grinding. I believe that I am not getting any power to the push button switch in the cockpit because the when you press it, the blower doesn't react to the current draw like it used to. Any recomendations for troubleshooting would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know where the the glowplugs take their power directly from? My first instinct is to pull the panel in the cockpit and check the switch but I thought I'd ask first. Thanks, Walt walterts@aol.com

glow pluy relay

On my c-400 the button turns on a relay that sends the power to the glow plugs. My relay went bad and would not turn on when 12 volts was put on the coil. gary and loretta c-400 hull 10 gldaniels@provide.net

Glow Plugs

On my C30 th glow plugs get their power via a long run from the panel. This season I used that line to activate a solenoid (Ford type from any auto parts store). I used #12 wire from the hot side of the starter, to the solenoid the to the glow plugs. Make sure you ground the solenoid. I now activate the glow plugs for about 20 seconds and fire up the engine. Whole job cost about $15.00. Good luck.
