Finding the pivot pin should be fairly easy due to the limited places where it can be located with the board down in that position. First, finding a place to stand while you work will be a problem unless the water below the boat is very shallow. Second, locating the pin will require carefully looking at the sides of the stub keel in order to see where the ends of the pin might be indicated by hollows or bulges, or other imperfections in the stub. Perhaps looking down into the stub keel from above will be helpful if there is a way to access that hollow area. Another "perhaps" would be looking up from below along the swing keel to see the pin. You will need to discover how the pin is secured. That will probably require some removal of material covering the ends of the pivot rod.
Is the swing keel made of cast Iron? Finding a replacement will be the largest difficulty. Hopefully others will respond with ideas. Best Wishes.

:plus: That is fixable and there are a lot of threads here on how to do it. If you go to my albums, you will see a bunch of photos of a repair that I have done. Finding a replacement will cost more than the boat is worth. You need to reatach the cable and winch it back into the trunk... then put it on a cradle or trailer and go from there. If it is cast iron, it probably weighs 600# and according to sailboatdata.com it might be 800#. That is a lot of iron. $$$ and you will need specialized equipment to move it around.

I suggest you mine the archives a bit and then start a new thread for repairing that one.

Thanks for the suggestions. Has anybody ever heard of making the centerboard fixed in place so I don’t have to mess around with it anymore…. Does anybody think I could weld or bolt it in place?

Probably cheaper and easier if you sold this one and got the one you wanted.

Whatever you choose to "do" to this boat, you will need to offer a realistic and convincing explanation to the person who considers buying the boat when you are ready to sell it. Staying as close to "as built" as possible might be the best choice.

Have had a long journey with this Centerboard. Need to disconnect the one hanging down. Any suggestions on how to get to and remove existing Centerboard; and how to find a replacement?
Hello,

I have the same centerboard I can send you photos of mine it is currently not connected, and you can see how the straps are connected up further in the cabin behind the mast. I would look at drilling a new hole myself. luckily it only weighs like 75/100 lbs

These centerboards are not weighted like the Catalina 22. As shane5099 said, about 100 lbs. And they do not have a pivot pin either. More of 2 straps that go up vertically and are held in place with a bolt accessed inside the compression post box. The original owners manual has a diagram and description on how to remove. I would try and repair or replace so you can maintain the better upwind sailing it provides.
