Aside from a day sail in perfect weather the day before yesterday with a walk around stunning Richmond Island with its herd of sheep:

This is why I like to get north fairly early.

Having experienced 50+ knot wind in that area, I know there are few places to hide. I think I would rather deal with a hurricane that I have time to move and prepare for than something like this.

I'll be be thinking about anyone cruising north through the area today. Anyone from this forum down there, please check in.

Good thing I got up early to check mails...I'm in the upper part of the watch area & would not have known if not for your map. It's raining like no tomorrow but very still....thanks, Roger...and am glad all's going well.

I hunkered down Ericson in the upper reaches of the Cape Fear, and it was just a wet morning. Wind of course, blew around some plastic buckets. They say the seas are 10' outside and I don't doubt it. But it's more of a soggy event than anything..
