Giving thanks

It's Thanksgiving Week, the beginning of the long slide into 2020.

Is there someone you're thankful for? Perhaps the person who helped you discover sailing? A terrific dock neighbor, mentor, or repair person who went above and beyond for you. Or maybe it's your spouse who enjoys the boat almost as much as you do.

Give your thanks here, to anything or anyone, right here.

And Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful for all our dock mates who are always very helpful to each other and share their knowledge and experience. I’m most thankful for my wife. I initially had to drag her into sailing and lessons. But we are both so glad she did, we are true partners in sailing and love it. Besides sailing Lake Michigan, we have sailed the BVI’s several times and Greece. I don’t think we’d have done any of that if we didn’t enjoy it together.

I give thanks to "Thunderbird"! She was the source of another fun season, she rode her anchor gracefully, and she kept the pointy stick pointing (mostly) up, which kept me from settling to the bottom! Now, this winter, I need to show my gratitude by committing to new improvements!

Yes, I'm thankful for all of the wonderful people in my life as well! :waycool::waycool: (There are a lot - inclusive of all whom read these messages!)

Man, I don't know where to start! I am blessed so lavishly. WILDLY beyond anything I deserve. But for the grace of God, I would have been dead decades ago, or perhaps doing life without parole. I was not a very good guy in my youth.

Instead, I am free and in vigorous health, I have a beautiful wife who loves me unconditionally, two wonderful children, financial security - and best of all, I may yet see paradise someday, in spite of the countless reasons why I should not.

What mere words can possibly serve to express an appropriate level of gratitude for such as this?

I’m thankful to live in the greatest country in the world, the land of the free and the home of the brave. And grateful for our men and women in uniform, as well as their families, who make great sacrifices to protect our freedoms. I’m also thankful for my friends, family and especially for being blessed with many.

With today’s information input pounding us with mainly evil and little good, we sometimes feel despair and anxiety about our futures.

I rely on family and friends as a loving and kind reminder of who we are and a reality check of the world around me.

Thanksgiving gives time to pause, to reflect and to enjoy those most important assets in our lives. We celebrate and another year to enjoy these relationship, memories of those not with us, the family traditions of love and celebration.

Pause, hug, hold, smile and give thanks to and for family and friends, the best part of our lives.

Wishing all a great week...
Jim and Sue

Powerfully and wonderfully said. As I sit in a hospital room recovering from shoulder surgery done yesterday. I am thankful for the medical staff, procedures, and family support that is lovingly given to me.
What a good and great country we have. I am singularly blessed to be an American.
Love to all in this forum. Cheers, Mike

Where to start? Mom and Dad for teaching me that food comes from water, also.
My beautiful wife who sails with me even though "There are THINGS IN the water that will EAT you!". Don't ask her to get on a floatie in murky water if you value your life. :)
My health. I am vertical and ventilating as my dad used to say. I can get around on a moving sailboat without worrying about my knees, my back, my balance.
My friends. Here on SBO, in Florida, in Georgia, and locally in Texas. I have friends that I may only see once a year but they are still brothers from different mothers.
I am thankful that I don't have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. I am MORE thankful that I am not cooking that meal. :puke:

I’m thankful for my wife of 46 years, even though when recently queried she said 37. She tolerates “my sailboat obsession “ as she calls it. I am so lucky.

I’m thankful for my daughter and the two grand kids she brought into my life

I am thankful that I opened up this world of SBO members on my computer back in 2014. I have made many fast yet lasting friendships. I’ve learned new ideas and am thankful for all who share their pictures, thoughts, hopes and dreams.

I’m thankful for my health and the sailors who will untie the lines in a perfectly good harbor to adventure upon the seas with me.

I’m thankful for the privilege I received to serve this country for 7 years and then a 30 year career of delivering milk to the men, women and families who serve to protect this great country.

And I’m thankful for Phil for the leap of faith he took in the 1990’s to create this SBO community.

May you all enjoy a wonderful celebration this holiday with family and friends.

Thankful for a great wife, great kids & grandkids, great friends, good health and to be born & raised in a wonderful country....I often think what life would have been were I hatched in a 3rd world oppressive country...some Americans have no clue how good we have it here as demonstrated by their current behavior and divisiveness - regardless of political ilk. Come together America, Life is Good!
Amen.
