Tacticat Sailing
Hi all,Since the link to Tacticat appeared in this forum a couple days ago some of you have already tried Tacticat [http://www.tacticat.com] and a few are actively participating on the on-line regattas and events. You're welcome to try. Tacticat is a free-for-sailors technical tool to hone tactical skills and to improve the rule knowledgment (and also an on-line game). Only requirements: to have an Internet Connection and Java installed in your computer (go to www.java.com to install if you don't have it).We are open 24x7, with more than 1000 starts a week. Some 20 different sailing fields are available for fleet, team and match races.Unlike other sailing simulators Tacticat is very simple graphics side. The races are sailed using different boats (laser-like, skiff, catamaran and big boat a la Americas Cup), each boat type is used to emphasize diferent aspects of sailing:- wind-shift/tacking synchro- blanketting and shadowing- risk management- tuning/triming aspects...Tacticat is today use in sailing schools for beginners and also for high-level training (olympic campaigns). If you want to try, please, please, read the instructions first. Boat handling is easy but there is a minimum you have to know:- Space bar: ask the boat to go to its best course (VMG-max)- SHIFT key: toggle between the only two sail states (sheeted perfectly/sheet-out)- ENTER: tack or gybe- F1 gives the complete key list. aestelaTacticat Admin.
