It's the end of the sailing year here.........Chicago and I been noticing water in the boat usually throw out five gals a week and now it's up to 12 gals a week. I can imagine its coming in from topside so I'm left to believe my centerboard hinge is leaking.
Question: How much water is normal.....and then when you start picking up water how does this progress? what is everyone experience on where does water come from that collects under the seats?
Question: Can water travel from the rear (compartment of the boat 26X to under the seats)..... and if separated where does this water come from when it shows up.............

What year boat? is this the (early) S model that has the pivot bolt access plates inside the boat?

if they leak they can sink the boat...

I assume your boat is in a slip or on a mooring? (in the water).

I have the hull plug model 26S so they get flooded by design, but wouldn't either design be made to avoid taking on water? Is the a chance you have an owner drilled thru-hull hole somewhere that is leaking? Perhaps for a depth or speed indicator?
