I have a 2009 Hunter 36, and just brought the boat back to my home marina after being on the hard for 5 months...the boat had been de-winterized prior to moving the boat back...the first time my wife turned the water pump on, using one of the faucets, turning the faucet off, the freshwater manifold started making a strange off again, on again noise...hope someone out there can relate to this problem, and share a method of fixing same...thanks, Kerbs

Air

It could be you did not get all the air out yet so let water run out of all the faucets to get it all out,did they check and clean the filter very easy to do.
Try the air first than if not check for any leaks at connections if it was OK last year it just may be air.

I think you mean the freshwater pump

not the manifold. The manifold is the set of valves that let you select the water tank to draw from.
The pump comes on when its delivery side pressure goes low. So when the faucet is opened the pressure goes down and the pump comes on. Close the faucet and the pump pumps till the pressure comes up to specs.
I'd say either there is a leaky faucet, an outright leak or the pump valves are not sealing. My bet is on the latter.
It is pretty easy (took me 20 min this year) to take the pump head off and pull the valves out for cleaning.

I was having the same sound and realized that if the the water level was too low in the holding tank there wasn't enough pressure to shut off the pump. If your water tank is full then i would go with seadaddler's thoughts regarding air.

If you are sucking air anywhere in your system, the water pump will cycle. If there is enough water in the tank you should check out each fitting.

If there is water in the water tank, then you leak is after the pump. Be sure to check the strainer too.

Are you able to get any water out of the faucets?
