Getting a boat off the trailer

I need to scrape, sand, paint etc. my O'day 25 but want to do it off the trailer. I have 4 boat stands that came with my O'day 20 that I intend to use. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to get it off the trailer. With my 20 I used a box beam made from 2x4's and 2x6's and the boat stands to hoist it above the trailer so I could roll it out. What have you done? Greg

Bad Back

Put a tiny block of wood 1" to either side of the keel to use as a fulcrum. Place it fore/aft at the boats center of gravity. For the lever, set a credit card on the block of wood with one end wedged under the keel. Tell the yard foreman you'll be back in a week to choose the paint color. What is this fixation with doing your own work? Are you all mad? It's beautiful outside, I'm taking a personal health day. Long lunch and a nap.

I have to agree w/ Ed

A 25 is nothing like a 20'. Have a boatyard lift it off the trailer & put it on stands. Then you can sand & paint. PS. Are those stands up to supporting the 25? Most yards will want you to use theirs.

Zen

Zen and the art of O'day 25 maintenance. If you like it, do it and be at peace with it.. A nap sounds like a good idea, but I feel real good after a days work preparing the boat for sailing. I've arranged with a local construction material company to raise my boat with their boom truck, and I will drop it (place it)on a cradle. TDC
