I greatly appreciate your expert book on Get Rid of Boat Odors.--It would be immensely helpful to novices like myself to have a few accompanying sketches. ie: I think you said to use a 1" vent line running forward to just under the bow exited blow the hull/deck joint. I also noted that the vertical angle should be no higher than 45 degrees. That seems like a fairly shallow angle of incline, but i just want to be sure i had it right.

That's not a "one size fits all" instruction

It only applies to tanks that are in the bow of the boat...which in turn requires that the head also be forward in the boat, 'cuz if the head is aft, a tank in the bow is too far from the toilet....and if the tank is aft, a vent line to the bow would be way too long. So unless your head is forward AND your tank is under the v-berth, that's not the way to do it. Which is why I don't use generic "one size fits all" sketches...they rarely fit ONE installation, much less all. As for the vent line rise...You did understand it correctly. The shorter and flatter the vent line, the better it works to keep the tank aerobic.
