I'm placing inboard genoa tracks for better pointing during club races. I have a 155, 130 and 100 headsails. How far back, how long, how far inboard at the aft and fore ends should both the rear{for the 155 and 130} and the forward tracks be placed.{for the 100}? Bob 1977 Pearson 30

inboard tracks

I put inboard tracks on my previous P30 for my working jib. I used 2' long tracks, which were more than enough for my situation. As far as location and track length, it depends upon your particular sails. I located mine by going sailing with some friends aboard on a light air day. I attached a second jib sheet to represent the sheet for an inside track, and held it down to the deck with my foot. When the active sheet was released, I played with the location of the inside sheet by moving my foot until I found the optimum location for sheet angle to the winch, and performance of the sail on a close hauled course. I marked the spot on the deck where the sheet first touched. This became the hypothetical center of my track. Upon confirmation that the track bolts would not interfere with anything below deck, I installed the 2' section, then duplicated the measurements for the other side. I'm sure this is probably not a "textbook" method of locating the tracks, and I probably just got real lucky. But it worked out great for me, and my pointing ability increased dramatically. Craig
