The genoa track on our 91 First 310 is leaking at two or three spots where the thru hull bolts, which aren't realy bolts but some sort of aircraft fitting. Has anyone had to replce these? What do you use to replace them with? Nort Hustwayte SV C'est la Vie!!

Genoa Track Screws?

The track arrangement you mention is something I'm not familiar with, in particular, the aircraft fitting. Standardly, genoa tracks are held down with flat-head machine screws which are through bolted with nuts and washers on the underside of the deck. If a leak is going to occur it will most likely be through the screw holes. When my genoa track leaked I took all the machine screws out, "cleaned" out the holes with an electric drill and twist drill which was slightly larger than the hole, sealed the holes with epoxy, then reinstalled everything. The epoxy will help prevent water from getting into the deck and rotting any wood there. When replacing the screws apply sealant to the latter part of the screw nearest the head and insert, attach nut and tighten. It takes two people, one to hold the phillips topside and the other to tighten with a ratchet wrench down below. If this doesn't sound like a fix for your situation please write back with a few more details for those unfamiliar with this specific model. Hope the above helps or provides some ideas.

thanks for the reply John-Nort hustwayte

Well The fittings I have do not have a std phillips or slotted head and no thread so I guess I'llhave to drill them out and replce with some Yankee fittings. Those Frenchies know how to make a great boat but some of the hadware is hard to replace. What year Beneteau and size do you sail? Nort H C'estla vie
