I have a leak that shows up as a drip from theinside edge of the gap between the hull and the deck in the aft cabin of my 42 passage (1992) This would imply the leak is not from the deck joint but possibly from the genoa car track mounted higher on the deck. my question is this ,if I remove the large phillips head bolts or screws to rebed the entire track what is under the track to accept these bolt/ screws? a nut fixed in place? a backer board for the screws. I do not want to do this without knowledge of how to remount and what I might be getting myself into

Had a similar leak.

Water ran off the aft block on the starboard side, Pulled up the stanchions and toe rail and re caulked everything this spring. Will not know for sure if I have found the cure until end of November. I will look at the track next time I am on the boat.
