Don:

Bought your guides several years ago and they were, and continue to be, extremely helpful.

Here's my question... Is it ever adventageous to fly a genniker and genny simultaneously? With or without the main? I sail a Catalina 36.

Thanks in advance...Serenity NOW, out

SN, I suggest you take the boat out and try different combinations and see how well- or not so well- each works for you. You'll get to know the boat and the sails and how to use your rigging. I've had the jib and asymetrical working wing 'n wing and it it pushed my B323 the fastest it's ever been.

On beam and near beam reaches you can fly both sails to great effectiveness. However, as the apparent wind goes further aft the genoa will begin to blanket the chute. If you use an ATN Tacker or some equivalent this affect will be even more pronounced. If you have a sprit to fly the chute from you will be able to carry both sails at far deeper angles.
