I am looking to order a new hunter 36 and thinking of adding a generator,has any one gotten price quote on adding gen to a new hunter and what gen model did you get.

Nick, I priced a Panda Fischer 4200 this spring to install in my 38 as an after market addition. I talked to my Hunter dealer as well as a couple of local marine equipment/boatyard owners and they all came within pennies of $15400. Your best bet may be to include the gen set as original equipment with the boat order and haggle with the dealer. Another thing to consider is a gen set is another engine and alternator to maintain, and another consumer of fuel. As I remember it the 36 has a 35 gallon fuel tank. After exploring the above, I do not have a gen set. I am pursuing a wind gen and solar panels as a much more affordable alternative. Steve Kamp, Hunter 38 "Carolina"

Nick I have a FP mini 8 (6.5KW) gen set on my 410, had it for a few years so would guess Steve's number is probably pretty close today. fuel consumption isn't much. under 1/4 gallon per hour. so I wouldn't let that concern. the FP has been virtually problem free. Bryce S/V Spellbinder

Instant power with gen,charge the batteries,run the ac,tv instant 110 any time any where,I really think its the best way to go and the boat still looks like a sail boat with out all this stuff hanging all over the boat,just push a button no wind or sun. I will be in florida and retired just turn on the ac relax with a cold drink it just doen't get any better than that.;
