I'm looking to purchase a 1996 Hunter 280. Curious to know if anyone has used a small generator with this boat and if so where they stored it. Also, if anyone installed an inverter - where they put it. Thanks, Mary

I don't have either a gen or inverter but the space under the helms seat
would probably be fine for a Honda 1000. You'd have to step over it or move it elsewhere in the cockpit to have easy access to the stern platform but it is doable. If you are looking for a fully protected space, there is none except in the cabin and I would not recommend that . . . . gas fumes & such. As for an inverter, I believe there is room for one just to starboard of the battery and DC selector switch in the battery compartment. Pull the settee cushions just in front of the table for access to that compartment. (At least that is where they are on our 280)

I use a honda 2000EU and love it. portable and quiet. runs my A/C unit while on the hook cruising.

Fumes
The gas cap on the EU2000i has an on-off switch for venting. I don't find that it creates a problem with fumes when it's been allowed to cool off and the vent turned off. No reason not to be careful with it, of course.
