As I approach Codgerhood in the twilight of my sailing career, I have come to realize that creature comforts are becoming more and more important. I have a 97, 36Mk2 and I want to install a gen set to run my Air Conditioner and other assorted high demand toys whilst at anchor. Would like to hear from anyone who has experience with gen sets and suggestions as to make model and installation location. So if any intrepid sailors would be so kind as to help out, please drop a line and give me the benefit of your experince. Thanks, Jack

i have heard Jack

of really great reviews about the honda. quiet, economical, expensive, reliable, small and light weight. it is small enough to put on the back end of the boat adjacent to the swim ladder over the transom. i have wanted one also, right now, I have a big monster inverter that I can use with the yanmar. i think that i may look into a gen set that can run of the diesel fuel that is on board and maybe mount it down in the lazerrette. the only concern i would have about a gen set would be the noise, am i going to piss someone off with a gen set running next to them in a quite limited anchorage?

I have only seen one installed in a C-36

it was mounted in the main cockpit locker. You will have to give up you cockpit locker if you really want one. It will not fit in the aft cockpit lockers. jim C-36 owner..
