Does anyone know EXACTLY where the lower "drain" plug/hole is on the Gemini Holding Tank? Is it portside FORWARD...or portside FACING THE HULL[between tank and hull]. Gotta get to it and don't want to begin 'exploratory hole-saw' surgery without preliminary 'second opinion'. tnx nedcook@usa.net

I suspect all you have to do is open the seacock

It's aft of the tank, outboard of it. You can see the plumbing schematics for Gemini 105M at http://www.ecsailing.com/YachtManagement/Images/MajorSystemsLayout.jpg You should find both of 'em, along with a couple of y-valves, in the locker that lies along the hull in the head.

INSTALLING MACERATOR ON GEMINI

There is,purportedly,a "drain plug" behind the holding tank compartment wall in the sail locker on the port side of the foredeck, located just below the punpout access which is on the top of the tank. The question is,"Where exactly is the holding tank "access drain-plug?". The 105 manual doesn't specifically say. If it is on the Forward side of the tank, then all is well. If it is "against the hull" [between the holding tank and hull] then accessing it to install a feed to the macerator would be very problematic. mrsimple say "tnx"

I think you're misreading it...

I can't imagine what could be meant by a "drain plug" for a holding tank other than a seacock. And according to this: http://www.multihulls.co.uk/gemini/comfort.html the holding tank drains via gravity, so you SHOULD only have to turn the y-valve and open the seacock...you shouldn't need a macerator. The tank should also be plumbed for pumpout (if not, you'll have a problem with the CG if you're ever inspected), so you should be able to empty the tank whether you can figure out how to dump it at sea (you have to be at least 3 miles out to sea from the nearest point on the US coastline to dump it legally) or not. A google search for Gemini 105M turned up all kinds of information...a more specific search using the term gemini+holding+tank brought up quite a bit more info. If you can't figure out how to empty the tank after reading all of it, I suggest you call your dealer or the previous owner if you bought it used. Once you've solved this problem, I want to know more about just how the fresh water flush for the toilet is plumbed...the make/model of the toilet and the source of the fresh water. 'Cuz connecting any toilet that isn't specifically designed to use pressurized water can put the potable water supply at risk of e-coli contamination.
