Im looking for something that will be a good at removing stains in my gelcoat of my V21. Im not sure how thick the gelcoat is so id prefer to not have to use a rubbing compound or FSR that will take away part of the gelcoat. The stains appear to be either dirt or organic from leaves. Ive heard simple green all purpose cleaner works well. Anyone try that or have any good ideas it would be much appeciated.

Bartenders friend comes in a gel. Works on rust and is gentle.

or FSR that will take away part of the gelcoat.
Where'd ya hear that?

On & Off liquid is NASTY stuff, I would avoid it like the plague. O&O gel is like FSR and great for removing stains.

You could also use ketchup or lemon juice.

I've been using FSR for the past 20 years. Use it, wash off with soap and then wax right away to close the pores in gelcoat, which BTW are always there which is why you have the stain to begin with.

Good luck.

Acetone first then Spray Nine, then On and Off then Bartenders as it is most abrasive but great stuff.
My favorite is Spray Nine.

on RUST stains, I have used toilet bowl cleaner.

Works fast, but rinse and rinse again, with some baking soda mixed in. (acid).

MEK or acetone work too, but strip off the wax, so you want to recoat the raw gelcote.

Woody, IIRC Lysol makes two separate products: shower cleaner and "mold & mildew remover."

I've never used the shower cleaner (blue? bottle), but the purple bottle of m&m remover is great to do just that on decks. I don't know if it would work on getting the mustache out though, but doubt it, 'cuz it didn't on my deck, I had to use FSR after I removed the mold.

There are so many good cleaners out there that have "single use" applications that sometimes I feel I have a toxic waste dump in my port locker!:D:D:D
