I'm trying to do some minor gelcoat repair on my c22. its a 1975. is there a catalina specific color that i can buy or try to match. i have the catalina direct catalog and don't see a gelcoat kit in there. am i stuck with mixing colors for a trial and error process? current gelcoat is off-white. Suggestions.....?

Hello There, One has a tough time sometimes getting the color just right. When I had asked Catalina the very same question about my Brand New Cat 22 they told me to order a gelcoat repair kit made by Evercoat and sold by West Marine Stores. My suggestion to you is find a really good paint store in your area and let them help you match your color up. Now I mean a good auto or marine paint store. Most have computer analizers now and can help you get it just right. It worked for a friend of mine here in our small town of 34,000 people. He had to take the boat to them and they actually scanned the boat hull with what looks like a toy gun which was connected to the computer in the store. You can't even tell where his patch is now and he was dealing with a chip the size of a quarter. They helped mix the color and he did the work, and yes it was gelcoat and not paint.
