I have some small nicks and scratches on my 84 O'Day 28 that need repairing and am having difficulty trying to match the gel coat color. Does anyone know where I can get some gell coat that is the correct color or know what the correctt color is.

Forget buying it. The UV sunlight has probably yellowed it. The only way to get an accurate match is to custom blend it yourself on site. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZxyrxIC2Ts This gives a good demonstration of how to proceed. Short of that call in a pro to mix for you. From my own experience it is quite difficult for a novice but not impossible.
All I'm trying to repair is small nicks and scratches, so an exact match isnt critical, I just would like to get close. I've tried using white gel coat but it stands out too much. I've seen the color mixing kits, but not sure what colors I need to make an off white for the deck and hull and a beige for the non-skid. I was hoping to find some pre-colored gel coat.
If you are willing to spend a few bucks a color chart/wheel is available from Minicraft of Florida. Express Composites in Minnesota is another place I have used.
Agree. Is it in areas of nonskid? Maybe just putting on new nonskid like kiwi or something. That is my plan. Also tried the scraping out and filling I per don casey. Doesn't work for me at all. Give it a try but don't expect much.25yearslater said:
