Gel coat fractures by engine mount

On our 1990 Vision-32, just earlier this season I noticed fractures (definately deeper than hairline) in the gel coat, right around one of the engine mounts. I've been keeping an eye on it this season, and frankly I'm not so sure if it's growing or not...it's kinda hard to tell. <gulp> Here are the questions: 1) Does anyone else have similar fractures? I'm assuming that these fractures are in the gel coat only, not in the fiberglass below... 2) Are the engine mounts bolted onto a wood block underneath the gel coat and fiberglass? What does that assembly look like? 3) Should I be more freaked out about this? :) Cheers, james

Contach Hunter

I recommend that you contact Hunter and find out the contruction of the area and I am sure they would provide valuable information as to whether or not it is a real problem and how to fix it if it is.

Big Mounting Beds

As Bob suggests, definitely call Hunter, but I'm sure you can sleep soundly in the meantime. I'm pretty sure those are treated wood encapsulated beds so I doubt there is any structural implication. I did some exploring on my V32. Good luck, RD
