A Question. Are small gel coat cracks around the mast a sign of damage or a weaknes in mast supports. Also there is a small rinkle in the fiberglass near the mast? Should I be conserned?
No being a Hunter owner this is the first step (no pun intended). Such stress cracks can be due to flexing on the underlying laminate or just due to expansion/contraction (gelcoat gets brittle). The wrinkling is more troubling.unless it was there earlier. How about a Hunterownder answer? Did you call Hunters? May be that some Thanks Jm W
Doug: The first thing I would check is for moisture in the core material. This is sometimes a sign that your core is soft and the mast is crushing the material. Make sure that you compression post is still good and solid too. If it is sinking it can be causing problem on the deck area too.
