Hello. I would like to know the white colour code from the First 28.5. I need to repair the gel coat and painting a litle and i have no idea which is the real code for beneteau´s white. My boat is a first 28.5 from 1989. Can somebody help me? Thanks.

Color match woes

I'll bet you are going to have the same problem matching gel coat as most with a 1989 boat (me included). You might be able to find the correct material from your local Beneteau dealer (who will have to order it from Beneteau), but that color likely won't match your UV discolored gelcoat. You'll need to experiment with pigmentation to get as close a match as you can... or hire an expert. Best of luck, Trevor

Color Match

Get a color match by a pro. Then have a gallon of gelcoat made up and your life will be easier.

COLOR USUALLY CHANGES WITH TIME..

If your boat was new, or almost new, "codes" match would work (as on car paint). As already posted, however, some pigments fade faster than others and anything other that stark white or black is a mix of pigments, Another problem that can occur is that you get an initial color match and then the "new gelcoat" may have different make of pigmenets which fade faster, slower etc so that the repair eventually shows again. Another problem is that resins themselves do yellow somewhat. Of course. these problems can be largely prevented by proper matching, good materials (as from original euiment if possible), blending etc. I researched this extensively, and it is posted above (in the yellow area). Under Fiberglass and gelcoat Trilogy #2. Hope this is of some help. Thanks Jim W
