That looks like the Force 10 Cooktop with microwave cabinet. You will still need the microwave that will fit inside the cabinet.

Ross, I think I may understand your point as the microwave ovens cannot seem to cook anything well other than baked potatoes. I do find that as a cooking tool they do have some positive attributes. There are a couple of things that they excel at like boiling water, defrosting food and heating up already prepared food. They can do this quickly and without radiating heat into the area is located at. I don't believe in limiting myself and if something can make my life easier I will use it. In a boat the function of heating already prepared food is of great assistance. The food does not loose its original taste and can be heated in the same container it was stored. Over the years we have come to appreciate that it is better and simpler to cook at home and freeze or refrigerate already prepared foods to take on the boat. We can run the microwave oven at anchor or underway by using the inverter. The power consumption is high but of short duration so the drain on our batteries is negligible. When I want to sit back and watch and enjoy the smell of a slow cooker I do it, but when I just want to eat something and just get on with what I was doing I like having the option.

That isa Force 10 gimbaled. unit with a microwave oven in the lower cabinet area. The gimbaled stove unit was manufactured with an open lowere compartment. It wannever an oven with the door taken off as someone suggested. The microwave is set inthe lower compartment.mI have the same unit on my 323...

you can cook corn bread, brownies, bread, roast and all matter of things in a Half Time oven....it is a microwave/convection combo.....just goggle it ......i have one for my boat and have used one on two of my friends boats and it works great....they run any where from $160.00 and up plus shipping...it is a neat addition to the galley

A few people have misgivings regarding microwave ovens. I just wear a tinfoil hat for protection from stray microwaves, in this case you'd need a tinfoil codspiece also. Or maybe he's Amish? Should we start a poll?

And your point is?
I believe that keeping the galley simple and as free of complex tools as posible is a good practice.

I see. Funny.... I must have missed the part where Ducati asked for opinions on the merits of a microwave on a boat.

A microwave oven, a complex tool? I guess we could go back to a stew pot on a whaling ship.
