Gas Lift Supports for cockpit lockers

I have a need to install Gas Lift Supports to the cockpit lockers so that they are easier to open, and to stay open. Mainly it is for my wife that feels they are heavy. Looking at the West Marine site, I find several version, from 12X20 that kan support 120 Lb to 7x10 that can support 20lb. have any of you installed those? How much weight do you think it needs to hold, i.e. what rating size should I get ( in lb.)

Per, while I am sure the 20lb supports would be strong enough I would go with the larger size just to make sure. good luck Charlie

Per Lund, Suggest that you get the longest collapsed length support that will fit. Greater weight rating will only enhance the function. Consider using a quality gas support from your local auto parts store. They work fine. Will save you some money. Jon McClain
