My Beneteau 281 has no fuel gauge. The tank in the sail locker is translucent and you are supposed to look through it and tell who full it is. Well I don't have supermans eyes, and I can't tell how much fuel is in it. Does anyone have any idea how to see into this tank? Harry

Have the same boat

It is a PITA to check the fuel level. I have found that it is easiest at night. Crawl into the lazerette (it is really pretty roomy) and set a powerfull flashlight on top of the tank. You will be able to see the fuel level through the translucent walls of the tank. It is esasier to see if someone rocks the boat a little to induce movement on the surface of the fuel.
