Has anyone installed the Garmin GWS wind transducer? I am installing one in my Hunter before I launch this year. The mast is off the boat so this is the time to do it. I am pretty clear on the wiring down to the base of the mast where the other connectors are for the lights and radio. It looks like getting the wiring from there below deck and to the aft cabin bulkhead cow ld be the challenge. Anyone who knows where Hunter runs the wires from the mast step down please pass that along.

I have Hunter 30 1988. Two weeks ago I install wind direction and speed ST60. The wires ( vhf antenna and anchor light ) are running thru compression post down under the floor. I run my cable from a wind transducer thru the mast, deck and compression post out in a small tube on the bottom of compression post. I can send you more picture if you want

That would be great if you could send more pictures. I assumed the wires came out of the compression tube in that small pipe that is welded on the bottom. I followed the VHF antenna wire down the side of the cabin to where it disappears under the floor. Just haven't figured out how to chase the wire into that little pipe. I an just refinishing the floors in the boat and have delayed the wind sensor install until the floors are done.

Did you jack up the cabin roof to remove the compression pipe? That was one of the thoughts I had on how to tackle the install. It appears that is what you did in your pictures.

The installation was made by a professional technician from my boatyard. I watched him do the installation. You have to remove the compression post because you can't run the fish tape by the drain tube to the upper hole in the compression post. In order to remove the compression post you have to support and lift the cabin just enough to loosen the compression post by using hydrolic jack. From the top of the cabin push the antenae wire and lighting wire into the compression post. Then remove the compression post by the upper side. The base of the compression post is solid fiberglass with a very small hole for the wires so it is very hard to run, that's why I use the small drain.

Thank you for the pictures. You confirmed what I thought was needed to get the wire where it needs to be. I see they also removed the wood floor section in the soul. Were you having other interior work done at the same time? I am hoping to only remove the flooring aft of the compression post. I will take pictures of my job as I progress.
