I have a Garmin GPSMap 172c that powers up and runs for about three to five minutes then shuts down. I called Garmin andvwas told that they no longer service that model.
Does anyone know where I can get the unit serviced?
Most all of the replacements have smaller screens and this is that right size.

If Garmin won't touch it, and you do want to open up the guts, try searching in your neighborhood for marine electronics shops that may give it a try.

My old 235 model did the same when not hooked up to the boat , It kept saying internal battery power low so I ended up taking it to a TV repair shop and they replace the battery for 30 bucks for the soldering
