Have a Garmin 492 GPS, last weekend it was working fine for most of the sail but then it got bumped and apparently cut itself off. When I noticed it I turned it back on and it came up that it was aquiring the satellites but I never got the green bars that indicate aquisition and it never came back on. Anybody ever experienced this?

try this
take the battery cover off and rotate the batteries; they may have lost contact. has worked for me in the past with other battery-operated equipment.

Hugh- There are no batteries in a 492. If you have a 492 internal antenna. First try to relocate or initialize the unit. See what that does. Second take the back off and see if the connection to the nodule/antenna has come loose. When you open up the back, you will see how this works. If its an external unit try to initialize again, lett it sit for awile. If it then doesnt work, send it on a trip to Olathe, KS. BOL- Rob Hessenius
