Read the discussion on the G48 to ST4000 interface. I have an older ST4000, not the plus model - can this be interfaced with the G48 via NMEA 0183 standard, and will the Garmin cables you can buy work or will I have to make up the hookup myself. Raytheon tech support sort of gave me an ambiguous answer about "Garmin gps nmea + connects to the Red port and the Garmin gps - connects to the Blue port on back of the ST 4000". It doesn't seem that simple from the discussion thread I've followed here - anyone able to help?

Raytheon's response to you was probably correct. Follow their instructions which should go something like: Red to DC power, Black to a good SEPERATE and CLEAN ground, and one of the other wires (Brown?) to the ST4000 NMEA in. After hookup you might want to check some things; for ex.: you will probably want to be sure that both units are set to display the same format, true or magnetic.
