Garmin Data Card Programmer for older chartplotters

Has anyone successfully installed the old Garmin proprietary Data Card Programmer software with either Mapsource or Homeport using Vitrual Box with a W10 64bit host and a W7 32bit client? Garmin has not and will not provide a 64bit driver for this data card programmer so the only solution is to keep an old PC with W7 or lower 32bit OS, dual-boot a modern PC, or setup a virtual system.
I need this so I can transfer waypoints and routes to/from my PC to my Garmin chartplotter. The newer chartplotters use a SD card, but the old ones like my GPSMAP 492 use this proprietary card.
I had this Virtual Box system running with a W8.1 host and a W7 client but my laptop crashed. New machine now, but I can't get this software to work. I've spent days on this and tried every possible solution I can find with no joy. It did work at one point but I can't figure out how I got it to work.
Can anyone help me with this?

This is a SWAG...
When you mount the USB and Older Garmin card, do you see the card image on your Desk Top or other spot?

If yes...
Mount an initialed SanDisk in another USB Spot, download your PC data to the SanDisk then Copy all files to the OLD Garmin Card.

The data shouldn't matter on 64 versus 32 bit machines.

I realize this isn't what you are looking for, but you could upgrade the chart plotter and leave this issue behind forever. The best value that I have encountered, and yes, I bought one, is a factory refub'd B&G Zeus2 7" chart plotter. Touch screen interface, mounting bracket, sun cover, and C-Map charts. It's NMEA 2000 and Ethernet, so that might present some interfacing issues, but I just thought I'd mention it. $500 at Defender.
I got one so I can move the 9" one currently at the helm to the nav station, and reduce the clutter at the helm.

Will your 492 plug into the PC and be recognized? Can you then transfer the card data to Mapsource?
My 276 will and I can up/down load my map data and points, routes, etc to the Mapsource running on the PC.

Just a thought; we installed a second unit in the aft cabin (our bedroom) as a tattletale for when we are sailing and an anchor alarm when we need that. I can get pretty unpopular when I yell up to the watchstander that he/she is 7 feet off the track!
