Does anyone know where I can get updated Data cards for my Garmin 182 C GPS/ chart plotter? Garmin tells me that they no longer have Data Cards available for this model. Thanks...

I don't belive they exist. Last updates for my 172C were in the 90's

Fl Sail, I posted the same question last week on the Ericson Yachts site,(I've got one of those too), except I'm looking for the N.C.,and S.C. coast. I really wasn't concerned about it being very new, some scoundrel liberated mine.
Anyway, a feller offered me a So. east Fla. card, and I hated to take it, because right this second, it would not suit my current needs.
Shoot, I'd even buy my OLD card back if the rogue would sell it to me..

If you have the card, and it works, why do you need a new one? If they've put in more buoys or even moved the old ones, what I do is make the new ones into waypoints, using a different icon to identify them compared to my standard waypoints. If a buoy disappeared, I'd mark it as a third type of icon calling it "Fl G 2sec removed". Not too hard.

Now if someone stole your card like that rascal did to Chris, we should all get together and "liberate" the card from the scoundrel. :cussing:

Chris, those charts can be downloaded to the 182c directly from a Mapsource Bluechart Americas CD.

The other advantage you get from having the cd with the electronic charts is that you can use it for route planning and then directly download your waypoints and routes to the 182c. You can also backup your hidey-holes to your laptop.

Tim, is Garmin still supporting the CD-ROM? You'd need the unlock codes, too, to transfer the data.

I don't think so Stu. But I do see them come up on eBay once in a while. I have one from my old 182c that I still use for laptop planning.

Hmm. That would be WAY cool. The odd thing is, (and because I'm too dumb to figure it out), is when I've researched linking cables for this apparatus, all I'm finding is RS232 to USB. My Garmin is not RS232. It has a round plug in the back of it, that IDEALLY, I would want to plug in to USB. That make sense? (It barely did to me)...

Check out the wiring diagram Chris. You can connect an rs232 db9 to the wiring harness. Use an rs232 to USB adapter to connect to your laptop if it does not have a db9 serial port.

Blue to pin 2 db9 female
Brown to pin 3
Black to pin 5
