Garmin 182C BlueChart Chip

I recently bought a 1993 320. It came with a Garmin 182c chart plotter. It uses a technology that is no longer supported by Garmin, BlueChart chip/card. The boat was originally a Canadian charter so it only has the Blue chip for West Coast Canadian Waters. As I live near Seattle I was wondering if there was any way to get my hands on the BlueChart chip for the US northwest waters. I would be glad to buy it. I had heard of blank chips that could be used to download the charts but have not found any concrete information. Any suggestions?

are your sure this is no longer supported by garmin? they updated mine a year and a half ago.

Bluechart has been dicontinued, as of Dec 2011, in favour of their Vision products.

THAT's why I won't own Garmin.

Garmin is notorious for releasing new gear that is not compatible with older models and then cutting off support. They recently acquired the company that makes (arguably) the best forward-looking sonar on the market. They are going to cut off support for previous equipment and make all new gear Garmin compatible only. They must think that we are all wealthy, willing and ABLE to upgrade annually. Your only hope is to find used equipment and accessories or some retailer that still has the capability to create the BlueCharts.

thanks for the comments. Are there any other places that I may put the word out that I am looking for the chip. I have posted things in crags list and on the Catalina 320 site. Any ideas. I know there must be some used equipment out there somewhere. I am willing to pay for the chip.
