This is a followup report on a problem I was having, posted Aug 4, 2003.Problem: the autopilot was not following a route that I had programed into the Garmin 176. When it reached a waypoint the autopilot would start flashing next waypoint and at which time I would press the track button, but would not advance to next waypoint. The autopilot was sent back to raymarine and they could find nothing wrong with it. Raymarine also told what NMEA sentences they were listening for from the gps and with that information I hooked up the gps to a computer and watched what it sent.Solution: (doing this from memory - mileage may vary)A very obscure menu in the "comm menu"! With the comm window displayed if you press menu again it will bring up a two entry menu where one of them is "Advanced NMEA Seup". One of the items is "waypoint IDs" you can select "names" or "numbers" in this field. SELECT "numbers" and this will make tracking work properly. Will have to hook up the computer again to see what the differences are between these two, but It was a very obscure setting.JimS/V Java
