I wanted to find out if anyone else out there has had problems with their Garmin 160 Blue Fish Finders. I recently purchased a 160 Blue to replace my old fishfinder on my Catalina 30. The old FF shot through the hull and was in a water filled well just under the V berth.When trying to mount the 160 Blue transducer in the same place I could not get a depth reading on the display. I tried many other spots on my hull, testing using the transducer in a bag of water, bonding it to the hull with sikaflex and even with wax. No luck. Hanging the transducer over the side of the boat produced a good reading. The dealer whom I purchased the unit from lent me a new transducer to try with the same results. I have since sent the whole unit back to Garmin and have purchased a Lowrance unit. First time out of the box I placed it in the water filled well and it worked fine! This leads me to believe that Garmin hasn't perfected the technology yet. Has anyone else had similar problems?
