Has anyone here purchased any products recently from Garhauer Marine? I ordered a traveler almost two months ago, and haven't recieved it yet. I've called and emailed, But never get a straight answer. Is this company financially strapped. Their prices and products are incredible but the service SUCKS!!!! the first order that I placed with them, came within a week. I used to have lots of praise for them but it's turning into major dissapointment. I know that this is their busy season, but to ignore all atempts to contact them isn't right either.

Now I'm worried

I ordered a traveler set up from them in early April and Guido promised a 30 day delivery. In about a week it will be a month and I'm leaving on a three week trip July 1st. If I don't have this thing by early June I'll be SOL on getting it installed by July 1. I'm hoping for the best but your post has me concerned. I think I'll give them a call today... Mike

Garhauer experience

About 6 weeks ago I ordered their small vang through their web site. The site is pretty basic and did not leave me with a sense that the transaction was processed correctly. For example, I don't think it gave me an estimated shipping date or a tracking number for the shipment. However, I did get e-mail confirmation that the order was recorded and the vang showed up about 8-10 days later.

Make sure you talk to Guido

I've seem previous comments that you need to make sure to talk Guido when you call Garhauer.

Call Mark

I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years and couldn't be happier. But I haven't bought lately. When I've needed to talk to someone, I've spoken to Mark, who is the son of the founders (their name is Felgenhauer, not Garhauer).

Good but a little slow

Several years ago I ordered a solid vang from them and have been very satisfied with its performance. However, it did take quite a while - certainly not like dealing with the major marine suppliers, who ship within a few days. Part of that was due to their having to fabricate the mounting brackets based on the mast and boom profiles I sent them. Slow, but a great product.

"just in time" manufacturing?

When I ordered my solid vang 2 seasons ago through my rigger it took about 3 weeks--I got the impression they started making mine after receiving the order--so maybe they're practicing that cutting-edge Japanese technique of "just-in-time" manufacturing. I was totally pleased with the product, which is very solid, so you're getting good value for the wait...

Call Them

I know the outfit. I go by it to get my gear directly. Do not expect instant gratification: much of their stuff is custom fitted, and that takes time. They are a really big operation, so no worries about financial strength. They are always at 100% capasity, especially going into the spring. Anyhow, call them and let them know you have a deadline and they will accomodate you. Rick D.

Finally!!!

I got an email today from Susan with an apology for taking so long. She promised me that it would be shipped out tommorrow. She's part of the family so I would guess that she's a straight shooter. Lets hope it's true. As for Guido, he's the one that I've been talking with every time I called and has done nothing except lie to me an when it would be here. Susan & Kelly got back to me today. No matter what, I will still order their product again, only it will be before any of the boat shows or way after them.

Been there

They have seem a habit of losing orders, especially if placed over the internet. I have found I do much better if I call them. They are wonderful people to deal with. Something breaks or you need a funky part for an install they pop it in the mail no problem and most of the time no charge.
